This database will allow you to search the millions of names of dead
individuals who appear in the Social Security Death Benefit Records
Collection at the Social Security Administration.
Basically, it includes the names of deceased individuals who had
collected social security and then their relative applied for a death
benefit after they died. Also, included are railroad retirement
recordss from the early 1900-1950s. This database contains over
74 million records.
The SSDI database contains the
following information:
Person's full name
A social security number
The name of the place where the S.S.# was issued.
Zip code of the place where the death benefit payment was sent
The deceased person's date of birth and death
Zip code of the person's last known residence
Once you locate a person that you are interested in learning more about
you can order a copy of the actual Social Security Card application
which usually contains much more information. It may contain the names
of the person's parents, the person's occupation and place of
employment, place of birth, and their current address.
